Victorian Secrets, Underwear of the 1850s with the National Trust

Discover the secrets of dressing (and undressing) in the 1850s!

Curious to know what ladies’ underwear was in the 1850s? Join the National Trust for a fun and informative event to discover exactly what a lady wore under her skirt as the special guest takes you through her daily dressing process.

The sight of women in hooped skirts, petticoats and impossible waist lines is familiar to many. In this unique event in the Como Ballroom, Dame Victoria will demonstrate and explain all the ins and outs of her undergarments. Learn all about the various layers under the dress and discover how a corset was a girl’s best friend for life.

Join a house tour before or after the show to hear the stories of the iconic Como House.

Please note that this very special event requires 10 attendees to proceed.
